ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Virginia Carroll

I have been involved with art from the time I can remember as a child. My focus was on art into my college years. Though life interfered at one point and my primary focus was on my family and children, I soon found that I could not stay away from it and was always, at least, thinking of it if not doing it. Time passed and I was not creating art on a professional level, but creating it for my own pleasure. Eventually, that was not enough, and I began to work on a full time basis at my easel. Then I found Colored Pencil as a medium and began to produce drawings at such a rate that I was able to collect a body of work exceeding 40 drawings in the space of 7 months and was given a "one man" show at the Hilltop Gallery in Nogales, AZ. Since then I have continued to create drawings in Colored Pencil and have been accepted to many shows of renown. I have begun experimenting with different support surfaces and expanding my horizons with new products that are still within the Colored Pencil medium, but that add additional depth and dimensions to my drawing. While some artists settle on one subject matter to create their drawings or paintings, I find that I sense beauty in all things, be it nature, architecture or a composed still life and cannot limit myself to only one of them. I love the flora and fauna of the desert, buildings and people and will continue to explore the beauty in all things.
